Hello, this is JPEdLab.
On this show, we bring you current affairs from the previous week on Mondays, Japanese trends and entertainment on Wednesdays, and useful information about travel, studying abroad, and life in Japan on Fridays.
This time, we’re focusing on the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, which open on September 19.
About 11,000 athletes from 45 countries and regions will take part, with 43 sports and 469 events.
Some events have already begun before the opening ceremony.
One major feature of these Games is that no large, traditional athletes’ village has been built.
Athletes and other people involved in the Games will stay in a variety of places, including hotels, private lodgings, temporary accommodation, and a large cruise ship.
One place drawing particular attention is the Costa Serena, which is moored at Nagoya Port.
It is expected to accommodate about 4,000 people, and has guest rooms, restaurants, and other facilities on board.
Some people have raised concerns about the facilities at certain temporary accommodations, and the organizing committee says it will make improvements.
What do you think of this approach for the Games, with accommodation spread across different locations instead of building an athletes’ village?
Do you think it’s an interesting solution?
Or do you think it will cause a lot of inconvenience?
