Why are there so many red gates in pictures of Japan?
At a shrine in Kyoto called Fushimi Inari Taisha, many gates called torii stand in rows.
When people made a wish to the gods or wanted to say thank you, they donated torii gates to the shrine.
Beautiful scenery can hold people’s feelings too.
It takes about five minutes to travel by JR train from Kyoto Station to Inari Station, near Fushimi Inari Taisha.
An adult one-way ticket costs 150 yen.
The shrine entrance is very close to the station.
There is no fee to enter the shrine.
Anyone can visit this place. Let’s continue to take good care of it.
Here is a question.
Do you think it would be okay to pay an entrance fee if it helped protect the shrine?
Take a little time to think about it.
