〜は〜な町です~ wa ~ na machi desu
describe a town with an adjective
When a な-adjective describes a noun, add 「な」, as in 「きれいな町」.
How it works

When introducing Kyoto to a friend, join 「有名」 and 「町」 to describe what kind of town it is.

「有名です」 states a quality; 「有名な町です」 also says what kind of town it is.

When a な-adjective describes a noun, put 「な」 between them: 有名+な+町.

Although 「きれい」 ends in 「い」, it is a な-adjective. Before a noun, use 「きれいな町」.

To state the quality directly, use 「きれいです」. Use 「きれいな町」 when a noun follows.

To learn about a town’s qualities, ask 「どんな町ですか」: “What kind of town is it?”

When answering, replace 「どんな」 with a quality: どんな町→きれいな町.
