〜にします~ ni shimasu
I’ll choose / have ~
Use 「〜にします」 to state your choice of a dish, drink, portion size, or other option.
How it works

Which of the three dishes did she choose? 「〜にします」 expresses a choice you make.

Put the thing you choose before 「にします」, as in 「天ぷらにします」.

You can also point to your choice and say 「私はこれにします」: “I’ll take this one.”

You can choose a portion size as well as a dish. 「このセットの大盛りにします」 means you choose the large portion of this set meal.

「何にしますか」 asks what you will choose. Once you have decided, answer with 「〜にします」.

「飲み物はどうしますか」 asks what you will have to drink. You can answer 「ビールにします」.

Here, 「に」 marks what you choose, not a place; 「します」 expresses making a decision.
