〜のを見ました~no o mimashita
No o mimashita (〜のを見ました) means “saw someone do”.
I saw a young child greet a shopkeeper.
Use 「〜のを見ました」 to report an action you personally witnessed.
In the course
How it works

What did he see with his own eyes? The child greeting the shopkeeper, not just the child.

「の」 makes the preceding action the object of seeing; 「を」 marks what was seen.

In this lesson, add 「のを見ました」 to a verb in dictionary form to describe an action you witnessed.

The example describes seeing the child greet someone at that moment, not the child’s everyday habit.

Although 「見ました」 is past tense, the action you saw can still use 「する」; you do not need to change it to 「した」.

The child greets, and the speaker sees it. 「子が」 tells us who performs the action.
