期間に〜回/冊/本kikan ni ~kai/satsu/hon
Kikan ni kai (期間に〜回) means “quantity per time period”.
I read one book a week.
Use 「期間に〜回/冊/本」 to state how many times or items fit within a period.

How it works

Look at the two one-week boxes: each has one book, showing that you read one book every week.

「1週間に」 uses one week as the unit and gives the quantity within that period.

Use 「回」 to count how many times you do something, 「冊」 for books, and 「本」 for movies.

In 「1週間に1冊本を読みます」, state the period and quantity first, then say that you read books.

To describe your reading habits more specifically, use 「1週間に2冊」 to say how much you read.

In the example, 「1冊」 is read 「いっさつ」. Notice the brief pause for the small 「っ」.

「4、5本」 means about four or five movies, not four plus five, making nine.

In the example, 「本」 counts movies and is read 「ほん」: 4本 is よんほん and 5本 is ごほん.
