〜において・〜における~ni oite / ~ni okeru
Ni oite / ni okeru (〜において・〜における) means “formal setting or field”.
This event will be held in the university hall.
Use 〜において for a formal setting or field, and 〜における before a noun describing that setting.
In the course
How it works

Where is the event held? 「において」 marks the event’s location and means the same as 「で」.

Anxiety in what kind of life? 「における」 modifies the noun that follows, showing the setting it belongs to.

The setting can also be a situation, such as life studying abroad; it does not have to be a physical place.

The scope can also be a field, such as medicine or education, showing which field something happens in.

Both forms follow a noun. When directly linking to another noun, use 「における」.

This is a fairly formal expression, often used in event notices, explanatory texts, and reports.

In the second sentence, first treat “anxiety in life studying abroad” as one unit. Then 「について」 marks it as the topic of discussion.
