How it works

When you do not know what to bring to an event, you can express your wish for the person in charge to tell you.

The person you want to act is the listener or a third party; the speaker hopes to benefit from that action.

This expresses a wish for the other person to do something; it does not mean they have already done it.

Add 「もらいたい」 to a verb’s て-form: for example, 「教える」 becomes 「教えてもらいたい」.

Mark the person doing the action with 「に」. In the picture, the person giving me information is 「担当者」.

It can express a strong wish. When said directly to the person concerned, it can also sound like a demand.

In the example about the notice, 「読んでおいて」 emphasizes reading it in advance to prepare for the event.
